I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

Pros

They offer great benefits - full health insurance from day 1 - no probation period. Great 401K matching program, and short term performance based incentives.

Cons

Their expectations for Customer Service positions in the call centers are unrealistically high, and their scheduling is very rigid. Only a certain amount of time per month is allotted for "personal" time off the phones, i.e. bathroom breaks outside of scheduled lunches and 15 minute breaks. Exceeding this reflects negatively on your monthly performance review. It can often feel like you are chained to the desk, as every second off the phone is held against you. It is a very high stress position, but I think that is the nature of most call center jobs, and not unique to Verizon Wireless.

Advice to Management

Sometimes after a particularly hard call, people need a short break to regroup so they can do their best to help the next customer, but doing so is highly discouraged and penalized, which leads to higher levels of stress among employees.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've had some great managers over the years and the opportunities for advancement. Great pay and bonuses, 401k match, et.

    Cons

Work is very demanding. The last time I took a vacation without my laptop Clinton was president. Always excepted to do more with less. They watch very nickel.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead wood. Definitely some people here that do the bare minimum.
