I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The best things Verizon offers its employees are a good benefits package and competitive pay structure. If you get a good store and good managers, you can have a pretty good time.

Cons

Retail hours. Constantly changing pay structure. Inundation of corporate talk and micromanagement, often coming directly from the top. Some places offer next to no career advancement.

Advice to Management

Micromanagement abounds.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Friendly environment.Typical call center environment but co-workers are pretty friendly. I am happy to go to work each day.

    Cons

Pay could be a little better. Metrics constantly change. Customer surveys count too heavily and are practically impossible to overturn if negative or error was made. (calls have to be perfect in order to be overturned)

    Advice to Management

Make your team members feel important and valued. Perks, food days, games, etc, have been eliminated entirely or severely cut since the economy tanked.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun and exciting technology to sell to customers. Commissioned structure allows for extra earnings potential.

    Cons

long, unpredictable hours. Sales reps required to perform technical support functions, limiting numbers of sales opportunities per day. Many sub-par managers that do not think for themselves and only relay messages of upper-mgmt.

    Advice to Management

upper management needs to have more front-line experience to really know what is going on in the stores.
