I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

10 + year Employee. From Analog to iPhone. You will have the greatest co-workers, great customers, great product, but the buck stops there. Verizon was a good company during the pre-Verizon years. There used to be an opportunity to earn a good income & the treated their employees nicely. ( They just did a payroll downsize for cheaper help ).This all ended with the switch to Verizon. As a new employee, you will be patted on the back & complimented for the first year or so. You will hear the 'chatter' & think everyone else is a 'whiner' & that YOU are GREAT ! That will end, trust me. Career opportunities for those who kiss up & are YES men.

    Cons

.You'll need a strong constitution to work here. After you have worn out the 'new-person' period, the 'real' Verizon will kick in. I have seen things I wont mention here. You will be asked to meet ridiculous stats ( set up to fail) . You will be micro-micro managed. After you get into the higher income brackets the hammer will start to fall ( many times a day) and you will start being treated badly. The more money you make, the worse you will be treated. Your only solace will be with your co-workers, who are going through the same thing. ( The money is the only thing that kept their prior employees there). They will try to make you quit before they ultimately fire you for some ridiculous thing., or they will offer a job in another part of the country & THEN fire you a few weeks after you get there. Verizon is not loyal or appreciative of it's employees. You are just a number with a term limit.

    Advice to Management

Verizon employees work hard & receive no appreciation. Try to respect your employees & customers a little bit more. Money is not God, but God is watching.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good money, flexible schedule, very generous phone discounts. Benefits start day one. A lot of vacation too. Generally fun environment

    Cons

Hard to move up to corporate, way too much pressure on reps to remember everything. Hard to prioritize when everything is the top priority. Inconsistent with programs and initiatives. And solicitation calls to customers.

    Advice to Management

Pay is way to high, it's causes a lack of integrity. Stop being in competition with yourselves. We had 10 competitors that sold verizon products within a mile of our store.
