I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good pay, good benefits, advancement opportunities.

Cons

Too many politics, promotions are based on being liked, not if you are good at what you do.

Advice to Management

Moral is very low. Upper management needs to listen to its people.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay and decent benefits

    Cons

Retail is challenging from a work/life balance. Lots of politics when trying to move up. And they have made keeping customers happy almost impossible by outsourcing our call centers.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They hire great people you'll love your peers, on site gym/cafe, great benefits, excellent pay, lots opportunity for advancement...

    Cons

The actual job of a customer service specialist is HARD, lots of goals to meet, weekly meetings to critique your work can feel like micromanaging and never like you're good enough, unfulfilling, little interaction with your coworkers, frustrating team meetings, the overwhelming feeling of not being good enough and the fact that you work with the general public is tough. People never call customer service happy. Schedules are unpredictable, one mistake and you could end up with a write up preventing you from bidding on an ideal schedule. Open all holidays. Don't seem to have a good work/life balance. Black out vacation days if they predict there will be high call volumes. You're a machine to the company. Also the company is always looking for ways to make and save money have been shutting down centers every year. I see that as a trend that will continue.

    Advice to Management

You're really running a great ship but the customers are flat out not happy with prices and you need to work to keep good employees. Weekly meetings to see what needs to change/can be improved is frustrating no matter how you spin it.
