I worked at Viacom as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great way to network. Everyone in LA or NYC has at some time worked under Viacom.

    Cons

Personally I had a terrible boss which colored my experience. Poor pay.

    Advice to Management

Better pay checks make better workers, also, interns should be paid.

I have been working at Viacom as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Exciting culture that welcomes a proactive, creative and intuitive personality. Plenty of events to attend and nice little perks. Nice to work on groundbreaking projects and exciting developments in the media and entertainment industry.

    Cons

Management is not aggressive and is structured poorly. Operational plan needs to be revisited and revised. Most times, you are left to figure out and follow-up on a lot of things on your own and pray that the information is current and accurate. Interdepartmental relations would be nice, as most people have know idea how the company functions as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Reorganize. Define clear and concise job roles and follow-up on compliance on a more frequent basis. Develop a company standard and protocol that everyone follows instead of the hodge-podge that exists now. This could be because of the in-and-out nature of employees due to the use of contract, temporary workers for core, operational assignments.
