I worked at Viasystems full-time

Pros

we were able to get overtime and i had benefits

Cons

there is absolutely no training, very cliquey, everyone is trying to get ahead (however there is absolutely no room for career advancement) or additional education

Advice to Management

train employees, answer questions, do reviews for employees, maintian a low turnover by teambuilding and knowing your team.

    Pros

Do a poor job and it'll take months to get fired, if it happens at all.

Complacency, laziness and gross incompetence are rewarded.

    Cons

Poor prospects for advancement within the company.
Departmental managers are often times overwhelmed by their own workload, let alone managing their employees.
Communication is a huge problem with this organization, no one works together as a cohesive unit to accomplish the common goals.
    Respect is in short supply.
Rewards including basic compensation and recognition for a job well done are absent.
Assuming multiple positions worth of responsibilities when people are let go is expected; You'd be better off being the one let go than the one who assumes the duties of the person who was just laid off / fired / walked to the door.

    Advice to Management

Challenge your employees and reward them for their performance through a bonus system that is actually achievable.

Train employees and management on technologies that can enhance their level of productivity.

Fire every single person who is involved with acquiring and keeping customers. Ahem... Caterpillar problem.
