I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Get to meet new interesting people all the time seeing as it is a Retail store. Most of work group consists of fun, productive and inspiring people. Well organized company.

Cons

Management very strict on break, arrival and departure times or too much socializing on the floor. Often had Sunday mandatory staff meeting even if you were not schedules to work for the day.

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company values! They appreciate all of their employees and show it through generous store discounts, incentives, and gratis. If you are dedicated and passionate about the company and it's goals, you are able to move up (and even encouraged to move up). Some may think it looks like a simple retail job; however it is so much more. Being able to help women feel comfortable, confident and sexy is one of the reasons I have stayed with Victoria's Secret for as long as I have.

    Cons

As mentioned previously, this is not just a typical retail job. If you are not a hard-working and passionate individual, you will most likely not succeed with Victoria's Secret. Sales Associates may not start out making the best pay, however reviews are made twice/year which provide the opportunity for a raise in compensation.

    Advice to Management

The management at Victoria's Secret is a great team to work for/with. Victoria's Secret educates and inspires an outstanding management team. They have a major impact on employee retention, customer satisfaction, and overall sales. My only advice for the management team (and HR) is to provide appreciation for those employees whom are dedicated and passionate about their careers with better pay. Those employees whom exhibit such qualities contribute to the overall sales, tremendously; they should be compensated as such.

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There can be some really great days, where customers are great and everything works out well. If you have a good store manager they will give you opportunities to grow in the store.

    Cons

for every good day there are 5 bad days that over shadow it, and if the store manager isn't very good forget about moving up in the store or company. the distribution of hours isn't fair, and the pay isn't fair at all, I got minimum wage until i found out new hires were getting paid more than me and i brought it up. i have never had a review in 3 years I've worked for the company. managers aren't very good at communicating exactly what they want to associates, and they have unrealistic expectations. floor sets are under staffed and at insane hours of the day from 6am until 3pm or 6pm until 3 or 4am the next day. there isn't any appreciation for the hard work associates put in for the floor sets either. only ever criticism about how things didn't get done in time or correctly.

    Advice to Management

pay more fairly, communicate absolutely everything to your associates. nothing will get done efficiently or correctly or even at all with out communication. treat all the associates fairly as well, don't let a new girl off when she does something wrong or ignores direction just because she is new then expect a more tenured senior girl to fix it because we know how to. if there was proper training and discipline in place things would be more fair. schedule more people for floor sets and don't use lack of hours as an excuse to understaff. there will only be more hours wasted on a floorset because people will have to stay late to finish things that can't be done with only 3 associates. my biggest advice is to seriously listen to your associates, don't take them for granted, especially the associates who have been there for a long time, they are your best assets no matter what they do or don't do.
