Pros

Good benefits, promoted wellness and work/life balance, casual atmosphere and culture; I enjoyed the first half of the time I was employed at VGT.

Cons

The second half of the time I worked there was horrible; hostile political maneuverings to try to bring about change rather than working with people to bring healthy, positive change; some middle managers were weak and seemingly unwilling to deal with dissenters and under achievers; lack of direction from senior management. Very dysfunctional company.

Advice to Management

Mr. Yarbrough needs to provide better vision and strategic leadership to the company. If he cannot trust the people he has in place to develop tactical operations, he needs to find highly competent people he can trust to do so. The company is highly dysfunctional and it starts at the top. Mr. Yarbrough needs to turn the dysfunction into function so that the company can grow and prosper once again.

I worked at Video Gaming Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Software Engineers were provided with a lot of learning opportunities with paid benefits like Pluralsight, MSDN, conferences, etc. The company and management also encouraged tech environment by arranging exhibition for engineering teams to present their works.

    Cons

The pace were slow with a lot of communications to many teams. There are some old code that are harder to maintain. Software tools and environments were old (e.g., VS 2008, perforce).
