Pros

Flexible work hours and the option to work remote. High level of autonomy with a lot of freedom to make your own decisions - although this could just be a result of the revolving door of managers I've experienced and the laying off of all the developers who supported me (see cons.)

Cons

High turnover with employees frequently leaving or being let go. I've had a new manager almost every year while working here, and even twice in one year on more than one occasion. It feels like there's no opportunity to grow since each managerial relationship is so short lived. I've even had no direct manager for months at a time after the previous one left or was let go. Because of the high turnover, many systems and processes have become an enigma with little to no documentation and nobody claiming ownership. Employees are let go abruptly leaving no opportunity for knowledge sharing. High stress due to an ever increasing workload and a reluctance to increase pay. The amount of things I'm responsible for is constantly growing and the support I get from others is constantly shrinking. All of the colleagues who supported me in my day to day work have been let go only to be replaced by more management. As my workload and responsibilities increase, my pay remains stagnant.

Pros

Vidyard truly walks the talk when it comes to being a remote-first, flexible workplace. The culture is rooted in trust, and I’ve always felt empowered to do my best work in a way that works for me and my life. Colleagues are supportive, collaborative, and genuinely care about each other. Leaders are accessible, open, and committed—not only to building a great product for our customers, but to building a company where employees can thrive. The People team consistently listens to feedback and takes action. Whether it’s pulse surveys, engagement surveys, or input shared in Slack or 1:1s, they are quick to acknowledge it and often move swiftly to implement meaningful changes. It’s clear they’re invested in the employee experience and in building a culture that aligns with our values. Communication is a standout. There’s some form of company-wide transparency every single week—from weekly standups focused on wins and progress against priorities, to monthly all-hands and AMAs, and a monthly video update from the CEO sharing business updates and what’s ahead. It helps you feel connected to what’s happening and why.

Cons

Like many companies, Vidyard has faced a tough macro environment over the past couple of years. That’s meant making hard decisions to ensure the business is sustainable. While not every decision has been perfect (and no company gets it right every time), what stands out is the care that goes into the process. Decisions are made thoughtfully, with context shared openly and with empathy for how they impact people.
