I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Amazing brand
Solid business model and very profitable
Decent pay compared to banks, competitive pay to tech companies
New CEO is cleaning house, that's the biggest pro

Cons

If you want a regular 9-5 job, this is a great place. However, if you are ambitious, looking to work and build cutting edge stuff, don't come here. The old guard is the biggest con. They are a critical mass, have no marketability outside of Visa and are in constant self preservation mode. It's a tradition at Visa for the old guard to put new leaders under the bus. Good news is that the new CEO has been cleaning house, already booted out toxic senior executives and their cronies. More to come but it's off to a great start. There are some exciting new executives who have come in from places like Chase, Electronic Arts, Paypal.

Advice to Management

Keep cleaning house, marketing is still awesome but root out all the old HR leaders, bring in a solid dynamic CFO.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Visa Inc. as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Environment is driven by performance more so than titles/stature, works to the benefit of contracting staffers.

    Cons

Senior Management often takes talent of non-FTE staff for granted. Strategic objectives often withheld from contract staff, when in fact, Visa could potentially benefit from non-FTE input.

    Advice to Management

Look to contracting staff as opportunities for longer-term/FTE advancement - versus drawing exclusively from internal candidates.

    Pros

Good people, exciting clients, fascinating business. Learn something new every day. Feel like my work really impacts consumer behavior/trends/options.

    Cons

Have to spend a lot of time selling yourself internally, which takes away from time we could/should be serving clients.
