I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good pay and benefits, on site gym with free classes, good cafeteria, there are still good people here.

Cons

New management created atmosphere of fear and intimidation. Nothing can be done anymore. Processes beyond complicated and hours are spent on documentation that nobody reads. The best people are looking for a job or hoping for a package. Moral is lowest I've seen in 15 years. It is so sad that I couldn't come up with a single professional "pro". It is miserable now.

Advice to Management

Get over yourself. You are not improving things, you are making them worse. Command and controls doesn't bring talent and stifles innovation.

    Pros

Pay check plus benefits and the name on your resume. Geographically easy to get to from most of the Bay Area. There are some very wonderful folks working very hard there.

    Cons

Culture of back stabbing; it is all about me; outright lying to staff and clients; not the most progressive of environments and out of the box thinking generally not encouraged.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the self promoters who have little value for others and little value for Visa or its history/culture.

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Amazing brand
Solid business model and very profitable
Decent pay compared to banks, competitive pay to tech companies
New CEO is cleaning house, that's the biggest pro

    Cons

If you want a regular 9-5 job, this is a great place. However, if you are ambitious, looking to work and build cutting edge stuff, don't come here. The old guard is the biggest con. They are a critical mass, have no marketability outside of Visa and are in constant self preservation mode. It's a tradition at Visa for the old guard to put new leaders under the bus. Good news is that the new CEO has been cleaning house, already booted out toxic senior executives and their cronies. More to come but it's off to a great start. There are some exciting new executives who have come in from places like Chase, Electronic Arts, Paypal.

    Advice to Management

Keep cleaning house, marketing is still awesome but root out all the old HR leaders, bring in a solid dynamic CFO.
