"CEO treats employees very poorly, role modelling poor leadership skills to the rest of the bad managers"

    Pros

The pay is decent and there are pockets of good managers fighting the good fight to change the culture and be good managers and leaders, but unfortunately, even they cannot shield us from all the rest of the dysfunction throughout the company which comes directly from the CEO himself.

    Cons

Lack of transparency and honesty in communications from the leadership - they always try to make things look rosy and are incapable of acknowledging areas of opportunity especially when it comes to their own leadership. Some members of the executive management seem to understand that they need to attract the younger generation of talent and in order to retain these folks, they need to have more of a culture like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. However, when the CEO is as arrogant, dismissive and out of touch with his employees as this one is, all the efforts from below are doomed.

    Advice to Management

Charlie (CEO) needs to get an executive coach and figure out how answer employee questions during All-Staff meetings appropriately without flying off the handle. Extremely poor demonstration of leadership and completely counter to what he 'claims' he wants: innovative, collaborative culture. Well, to have that, you need a culture that is supportive, open and transparent - not a culture of fear. Take some lessons and advice from the CEO of US Bank - that is the kind of CEO we need. Until Charlie (and any of the managers that behave like him) change the way they interact with and treat their employees, top talent will continue to leave this company. While our business model provides a large margin for mismanagement, the downward trend compared to our competitors is a telling sign. Take your head out of the sand Charlie and a good, honest look in the mirror and maybe you'll understand why our numbers are the way they are....

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

nice perks, stable employment, good benefits

    Cons

People get promoted because they kiss up and slap down. One guy was promoted to director, and he would "work from home" and have sex with girls he met on dating websites pof and ok cupid. old boy's network, ok for guys to work from home and screw around. The policy is not even for working from home. Very male oriented in management.

    Advice to Management

Watch what your directors and managers are doing when they "work from home". Stop enabling male gigolo behavior. It seems very cut throat and toxic environment.
