I have been working at Vision Critical full-time

Pros

There are a lot of really great people that work on the company. The software and business problems it is solving is interesting and the market seems to be really expanding. The office location is really great being close to major transit lines like the west coast express and the skytrain and canada lines. The work environment is very collaborative with a great atmosphere.

Cons

Not really a software company though going through a transition right now. There are far too many senior executives with no software experience and more of a custom services mind set. At times it can seem like the senior leaders are not very appreciative of the employees driving them for long periods of time to work long hours with the promise of compensation later however the bonus program is really weak compared to other software companies.

I worked at Vision Critical full-time

    Pros

Very dynamic atmosphere, lots of young (20-30 year-olds) at the company who are very smart and ambitious. Company itself is always evolving, looking for better ways to do research, execute projects, and is growing and expanding quickly which means new opportunities all the time. In general, people are recognized and rewarded for their work.

    Cons

Depending on the role, work-life balance may exist, especially in research. But that's also the nature of the industry. Work hard and play hard.
