I worked at Visiting Nurse Service of New York as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

The people were all very friendly and willing to help. Managers enjoyed explaining to interns the business processes and the functions they served, so interns could really understand how their work is beneficial to the company. Mostly open communication between all business areas and levels of management.

Cons

Organizational structure was redundant in some areas and very thin in others. This may have been inefficient in some aspect of the business.

I worked at Visiting Nurse Service of New York full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a company that you can stay at for a long time and make camp there. The benefits are good and the you are reimbursed for you education. But that is it!

    Cons

*You work and work and they add to your daily responsibilities, but they keep adding to your responsibilities
*You work and work but they never give you an actual raise. They have 3% yearly increases...JOKE!
*After you dedicate years of work you get fired (or what they call lay off) and if you complain or say your going to sue, you are threatened with not getting your severance pay and they may challenge your unemployment benefits. You get treated like crap!
*Management does not care about lower level employees. The top people make big money the bottom people make very little and the top management never ever leave! They are the for 30 years easily.
*They have laid off over a thousand people already from what I have heard...not a good sign under the new management
*I was there for 5 years in the main office and not once did the CEO say good morning to me unless I said something first. AMAZING!!!

Where can one start? There are so many things wrong and the rest of these people have posted before and after me....

I have been working at Visiting Nurse Service of New York full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great IT department. Good benefits.

    Cons

Ever since Mary Ann Christopher started as the CEO, she has ruined this once stellar home care agency. How can you possibly justify laying off 1500 employees yet continue to advertise new jobs and speak of expansion??
The senior management are so out of touch and do not understand that cutting staff at the bottom can lead to patient dissatisfaction and endangerment.

    Advice to Management

    Value loyalty.
