I have been working at Vonage full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Vonage tends to have a family atmosphere that can be great if you can adapt and work well with others. You get to work with many different technologies and systems that you may not get exposure to elsewhere

Cons

Vonage has a lack of processes in dealing with most situations. There is also a lot of infighting between different departments for some reason. Usually because of unrealistic expectations from all parties.

    Pros

    Growth opportunity if you can navigate the shark infested waters
    Small circle strong leaders
    Employees take are of each other

    Cons

    Unprofessional behavior at the management level
    Exec leadership do not hold mgrs accountable for poor behavior/poor leadership skills
    Corp bullying is ignored and swept under the rug
    Talent, training and development is not strongly focused on its more of a lets check it off the list to improve employee survey ratings (results oriented at its worst)

    Advice to Management

    If you really want to retain good talent look at your employees from the mgr level. Your operations managers spend more time covering themselves and finding out who is the right person to kiss up to then managing day to day and developing the talent they have working under them. Employee feedback is treated as something to move off a check list then to really dig down and fix the issue. Too many use a band aid approach and are rewarded for it daily.

    Pros

    A cafe inside the building. Pay is decent.

    Cons

    Long term success at Vonage requires learning how to blame someone else for your problems. This is mostly done through lying and intimidation. The longer you stay there, the more you realize that your time will eventually run out, as someone else will eventually do you in. All decision-making appears to be based on wishful thinking; hope overrides fact. When projects fail, the failure is often redefined as success, ensuring that those in charge continue to be covered in glory.

    Advice to Management

    Jettison all middle management; establish control over IT contractors. Upper management appear to be decent business people but are technically clueless, so they cannot tell when middle management misleads, which is often.
