Pros

Great benefits and pleasant co-workers

Cons

No opportunity for advancement without crossing over to another business segment. They continuously bring in talented people with beneficial experience and inadvertently force them to overly multitask with job duties that should belong to other departments. This results in everything being disorganized and everyone being confused.

Advice to Management

Promote from within the business segment and then externally hire for the non-management professional positions.

    Pros

Talented, caring employees who typically work in teams. Interesting work that holds your interest. The company culture is committed to safety. Benefits are decent.

    Cons

The biggest con is the constant fear that today will be your last day-the threat of layoffs and downsizing in all departments is tangible. Morale is low. Executives run the company live separate companies instead of one conpany, overlapping functions,

    Advice to Management

Care more about what your emplyees are saying-stop making your teams live in a culture of fear. It can't always be abou the bottom line.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Overall excellent mid-level workers; solid product line; great global footprint; generally very successful with both customers and investors. Very good financial and communication systems.

    Cons

Very fragmented-- works more like multiple companies with top management having more initiatives than they can handle. Chapter 11 not huge problem-- but still something that you have to explain.

    Advice to Management

You have lots of great employees- but the Grace does not operate like "one operating company." Top management needs to 'walk the talk' with less initiatives, more cross-business promotions, and consistency in expectation
