    Pros

Grainger is a great place to work. Great benefits. They utilize IT as a strategic weapon to imbed themselves with their customers. They will invest in you if you show the appetite and willingness to learn.

    Cons

Some leadership ego's are a little overboard, where they struggle if they are not the smartest person in the room. There is a passive aggressive conservative undertone that makes driving change difficult in the organization.

    Advice to Management

Recognize what your customers truly value and invest soundly there. Don't spread the wealth and make 100 projects important, for you will not complete anything.

I worked at W.W. Grainger full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great profit sharing, average salaries. Fair training and great customers.

    Cons

Sales leadership out of touch. Targets are unachievable, Pushing out tenured folks to replace with younger, less expensive and experienced ones who will leave after 12 months. The customer pays the price.

    Advice to Management

Get out and talk with the customers. Quit selling from the Board Room. Watch out for short term Mgr's just trying to make a name for themselves to move up. They are doing a lot of damage to your field based employees. You can see that with your retention problem.
