I have been working at WHPacific full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Neat work opportunities, good team environment, unrealized potential

Cons

poor inter-office interaction, cliches within the office can make collaboration difficult across departments, some senior management think getting the work is more important than delivering quality and client satisfaction

Advice to Management

Listen to the worker bees and you will figure out who is worth listening to pretty quickly.

I worked at WHPacific full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I agree with several of the other reviews; there were some good co-workers and some interesting and challenging projects.

    Cons

Very intense focus on short term financial performance metrics encouraged employees to overcharge to projects which in turn would hurt the employee and the company on the back end.
Successive rounds of layoffs every few months had everyone concerned that theirs was the next head on the chopping block. For many it turned out to be true. It's hard to concentrate on the work and be productive in such an environment.
Quality of the work being performed has diminished; at least partly due to the singular focus on "productivity" and financial results.
Historic expertise and capability has been severely or completely eroded in some business lines. Senior management has strong prejudices against certain business lines and offices. This has seriously damaged the company capabilities and the individuals involved.
The company used to feel like an extended family; not anymore, those days are long gone.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to put yourselves in the shoes of the employees and look at things from a long term perspective.

    "Good fellow workers, clueless management"

I have been working at WHPacific full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are good and work hard across the company. Native ownership is a plus. The work itself is satisfying.

    Cons

Management team is clueless. The employee survey taken every year reveals that in 2013 there was a huge drop (20% decline or more in some offices) in job satisfaction and confidence in Corporate, yet nothing is being done to change this. Cheery emails are distributed about great changes while company is bleeding red and employees are being fired right and left. The hope is that at the fall 2013 board meeting the board will see the annual losses (well over $2m) and will spit out the kool-aid and make significant management changes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop hiring overhead people that you can ill afford. Be honest. The only reason long term employees are hanging in there is because of loyalty to each other and love of the work. Bring in outside counselor to start the healing. Consider moving on.
