Pros

The job is steady, work hard and well and you won't ever live in fear of layoffs. Benefits are nice, co-workers are good people. Royalties available, depending on successful projects.

Cons

Slot development in general is rather boring. The pay's great, almost a guaranteed ROI, but there's no excitement. Too many design decisions come down to design-by-committee-of-higher-ups, stifles talent & innovation, creates stagnant design philosophies that never truly push any envelopes.

Advice to Management

Integrate a proper game development pipeline with real milestones. Allow developers to create a style for a game that they can then stick to without fear that the Committee isn't going to like minutiae that force artists & designers back to the drawing board.

    Positive Outlook

    I have been working at WMS Gaming full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    * Work is available
    * Benefits package
    * Various activities (ie. weight-loss, basketball tournaments, bowling tournaments, personal fitness...)
    * Flexible hours
    * Ability to advance your knowledge (ie. training, school reimbursement program)
    * IF you know someone in upper management, you will get a great job position
    * Volunteer hours
    * Motivation for Innovation
    * Great Food

    Cons

    * Gender biased
    * brown-nosing = multiple promotion(s)
    * Lack of advancement, unless you change departments
    * Favoritism
    * Working hard = no recognition; unless you are working soo hard your own kid doesn't remember you
    * Waiting patiently for a promotion

    Advice to Management

    Female minorities work just as hard (or even harder at times) as the male majorities... Recognition should be genuine and true to that persons ability. IF "People" is no.1 of the 4P's, it shouldn't takes years & years of proving yourself in order to advance in a company proclaiming to maintain "Employer of Choice". Tell the truth, no matter what; brown-nosing is a dis-ease. New building does not equal happy employees.
