Negative Outlook

I worked at WVU Medicine full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Overall Nursing staff good to work with! (except some nurse managers)

Cons

union, should be eliminated, to much getting somthin for nothin attitude!!!!!!

Advice to Management

Be real with your staff if an incident happens, dont go off half cocked. Investigate thoroughly before accusations. Management should be out on the floor with the staff once in a while giving a helping hand and seeing what level staff/patient relations are at!!!

I have been working at WVU Medicine full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is so much to learn at WVUH, and many departments to choose from. For the most part the environment is friendly, and people seem to enjoy what they are doing. Schedules are flexible. It relatively easy to change departments when you are ready for something new in your career. There are lots of opportunities for professional growth. Pay in average.

    Cons

benefit package is average, its a huge organization so to upper management you are really just a face in the crowd- however, the individual nursing units have their own culture that gives you a sense of belonging. its a teaching facility, so you deal with several "teams" of doctors and interns- at times there is a lack of communication between the doctors and nursing staff, which makes patient care complicated.
