I worked at Wachovia full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good place to get your Series 7 and break into the industry.

Cons

Churn and and burn um philosophy when it comes to new recruits.
Lack of mentorship.
High account fees makes it difficult to attract and grow clients.

Advice to Management

Advisors are expected to act like small business owners, yet supporting functions are weak, such as compliance, trust advising, bond department, and high account fees. It's not worth the price of these services for advisors or their clients.

I have been working at Wachovia part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The paid-time-off, friendly coworkers, and great managers.

    Cons

The policies, inflexible hours, sales-pushiness, stress for lack of staffing, and no proper on-site training development for beginners.

    Advice to Management

Understand how the level of staffing can affect customer service and smooth operations. Don't expect to have low investing in training, low staffing, high sales goals expectation, 100% customer service, and a fast experience. Do not throw your new tellers in a drive-thru with four lanes by themselves until they are prepared.

I worked at Wachovia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work when it was Wachovia. Not sure now that it's been bought by Wells Fargo. Laid back environment for an Investment Bank. If you're in the investment banking section, you still get comparable compensation as other Wall Street firms, working in a city (Charlotte) with low cost of living. A lot of new business to get involved when I was there back in 2005 to 2008.

    Cons

Made serious mistakes in mortgage business but you all know that. Maybe it was too eager to imitate other Wall Street firms instead of sticking to its strength.

    Advice to Management

Hope Wells Fargo will keep the culture from Wachovia.
