I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The pay and benefits were quite nice, especially in the area where I live. The hours were reasonable and the fluctuation between working days and nights allowed me to still be able to get things done during the normal 8-5 business hours during the week.

Cons

Because stores are open 365 days a year, there is the possibility of working on major holidays, such as Christmas. However, the holiday pay did slightly ease the sting. The frequent rotation of managers between different stores in the district also became frustrating, especially if you lived on one end of the district.

Advice to Management

Look more inside the stores for promotions into management. There was excellent potential in the employees, many of whom often felt overlooked when a manager was hired in from the outside.

I worked at Walgreens part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people I worked with, store level management was very flexible and accomodating, the pay was good, and you receive regular pay increases.

    Cons

Regional and upper management care more about making and saving shareholders money than they care about employees and customers. Hours are constantly being cut while employees are expected to pick up the slack and remain in high spirits while doing so.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are the reason the business is successful, it might be a good idea to treat them better.

    Pros

Great Community-Enjoyed working with most of my co-workers
    Fun Environment
    Everyday was different
    Extremely mindless and easy

    Cons

    Hours
Transfered frequently-Worked at 5 different stores in 2 1/2 years
Got out at the right time-Most MGT's were forced to take a significant pay cut

    Advice to Management

Your employees are the most important asset you have... try to avoid "re-structuring," you will eliminate ALOT of turnover!
