I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are still some great people there but I doubt they will be there for much longer. The pressure to become part of the Walgreen's team will drive out those with any original ideas and motivation to fight the burdensome process that the organization has imposed on industry that is supposed to be able to respond to change quickly.

    Cons

There is really no place for most people to go but to another employer. The Walgreen's management is bloated, slow moving and values the "yes man" type of employees. It is not about building a company but getting promoted to the next level at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Understand that the Seattle market is much better than Chicago for IT opportunities and act accordingly.
