I have been working at Walgreens part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours if they are available. Low stress.

    Cons

POSITIONS ARE ALWAYS DISCONTINUED. Managers are always changing. LOW PAY. Staff required to take on different positions without the title or pay. Very low budget for scheduling staff.

    Advice to Management

Recently this company has been slashing their pay roll budget. Hours have been dramatically cut to where full time employees are now part time and the part time employees are working MAYBE 5 to 10 hours a week. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE IMMEDIATELY. Projects cannot be completed without available staff. Customer service is a top priority and without employees there to help the customers, we will lose them!

Stop spending money on customer service pins, excessive coupon books, fliers, SIGN THAT CHANGE EVERY MONTH OR SO, Walgreens magazine, etc. Instead, put it towards an annual raise for store employees so that maybe they can get more than a 20 cent raise; especially those that have been working for the company for more than a year.

Stop discontinuing positions so that you can change the job title and pay less for the same exact job.

Stop moving managers around every few months. This creates huge discrepancies in what is expected of employees. It also aggravates customers as they feel that they cannot shop at a store where they once were looked after by a manager and now they have to deal with one that is not as caring.

This a job where, even at STORE level, employees are required to multitask to the highest degree. i.e. A cashier is also the beauty adviser, the photo tech, has to stock merchandise, has to push for sales, push to sell flu shots, do item maintenance, inventory counts, etc, etc. They are not paid accordingly.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Everything good about Walgreens has either been changed to something that doesn't even resemble what it used to be, or taken away altogether. I like the people I work with, but that has nothing to do with the company.

    Cons

Growing too big too fast and leaving employees behind. Ridiculous expectations for hourly employees - there simply isn't enough payroll to complete everything that corporate wants done.

    Advice to Management

invest in your people, you will lose them sooner than you think if this direction continues
