I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Have had some very nice co-workers over the years. This was once a very stable and happy place to work. Since the initiation of Rewire for Growth, which is just a nice way of saying that there will be terminations, it hasn't been the same.

Cons

Extremely low morale in the IT area. Unstable environment with upper management continually changing directions with outsourcing, off-shoring and reductions in force. Very unhappy environment for employees over the last 5+ years and steadily declining. It may just be the nature of the field now, but what was supposed to promote collaboration and streamline projects has only added extra layers of bureaucracy and created an incredibly toxic work environment. There is very little incentive, other than having a job, to continue employment.

Advice to Management

Employees are the bottom line, not you.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, Cashier>Photo>Head Photo in 1 Year. 7.25>9.50 in 1 year. Decent Vacation allotment. Decent Insurance.

    Cons

Boring. Lots of trickle down corporate intervention. High Turnover. Lazy coworkers tend to get hired because you start at minimum wage. Hard to care about the job when you make that pay rate. Rarely is there something that doesn't need to be done.

    Advice to Management

Allot enough hours to get the job done.

I worked at Walgreens part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Employee Discounts and Free samples

    Cons

Open Christmas and Thanksgiving:( always had to work every weekend unless a request was put in, but very hard to even get it approved. Always a shortage of employees, bad Management, very disorganized store.

    Advice to Management

Give more praise to the employees who actually do their jobs, and worry less about the underachievers. Be more open minded when it comes to employees having families and spending time with them.
