I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Easy job where you never got fired unless you murdered someone. The people that run the company are as dumb as rocks.

Cons

They like to hire lazy people, idiots, kids, old people, and psychotics. The company spent too much money trying to out build CVS in stores and not enough on its employees.

Advice to Management

Hire good people and don't be afraid to take out the trash (poor workers). Spend more on the people who do their jobs well because they are the ones that help keep the company in good business and financial shape.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pretty good benefits, good exposure to different areas, good co-workera

    Cons

Expected to do the work or 3-4 people, management is completely out of touch with what their employees are doing, upper management continues to grow (they have a chief executive everything now), while lower ranked employees are given hardly noticable raises and tiny bonuses (if anythinf at all)

    Advice to Management

TALK to your employees - quit sending out useless surveys and having meetings with HR and their VP there - nobody is going to tell you what they are really thinking when their VP is there. These front line employees are what makes up your business - don't forget that. I worked with Greg Wasson and I think he is genuinely a NICE guy - not so sure about the CFO. And upper management treats their employees like crap. If you want people to respect you and be good employees - it starts at the top.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fair company to work for. Have learned a lot from the managers I have worked under in the last 4 years. Willing to teach you what you want to learn.

    Cons

Company needs to have standard discipline methods that are followed. Needs to be a way for managers to make the lazy employees work or get rid of them and replace them with people who will work.

    Advice to Management

Don't overload those who are not afraid of work while those who don't like to work sit around and watch. Make employees keep cell phones in lockers rather than on the floor. Tell employees if they want to read magazines, there is a place for them to do that and it isn't at work
