I have been working at Walgreens as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Management has a solid core of great minds on ux team. Fun work and environment

Cons

Agile process has many holes, off-site developer team has poor capabilities, always building on existing platforms rather than creating their own

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay was good compared to what is out there. Steady job/income source. When I started in 2000 it was a great place to work with a lot of opportunity, now not so much.

    Cons

Had to do anything that store/district manager asked or you would never be even considered for a promotion. Stores are not being built like in the early 2000's so EXA's can only get promoted when a store manager dies or quits. Treat any employee under a store manager like they are nobody and like they are not supposed to have a life outside of Walgreens. Can't make plans to do anything because of varying schedules. Great at breaking promises to employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees a little more, and realize that Walgreens isn't life or death. People do get sick and have kids and want to take vacations other than you! Having happy employees is actually a good thing, believe it or not.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some good people who work there

    Cons

Management is disorganized and only looks at formal education for advancement

    Advice to Management

Look for good workers who don't have college degrees, but a wealth of experience and common sense that can't be taught in a textbook
