I have been working at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

lots of room to grow and opportunity (but you have to be pushing yourself to take advantage of it or you'll get lost in the shuffle or a company this big)

Cons

has some of the unfortunate hallmarks of a publicly held company of it's size...if you're looking for creativity and a great respect for home life...look elsewhere

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Better that average retail wage. Though I know there is less opportunity now, I was able to work my way up from service clerk to a assistant manager. Now it is more about who you know than what you know to move ahead in the store and district. Have started doing community events and fundraisers and depending on the store manager, can be really fun

    Cons

Will hold onto bad employees just because they have worked for the company for more than 10 years. Really does not look into taking care of there employees and making sure they are happy. Will demand great service all the time while cutting hours and wages and in my case as an assistant manager, making me work 4 out of my 5 shift without a break because the store did not want to pay a 3rd assistant manager who could work mid shift for a store that was open 8 am to 10 pm. Once reaching assistant manager there was no opportunities to move up or laterally within the district.

    Advice to Management

Focus on providing an environment where employees can grow, develop and be happy to come to work. Happy and motivated employees provide great customer service
