I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The best features of the job are the employee discount, 401k, stock purchase program, flexibility, and other associates. Working at Walmart you will get to see how the worlds largest retailer operates, something that you can't get any ware else.

Cons

The biggest problem in Walmart would be training. It is something I know Walmart is working on but they have a long way to go. When I first became a Department Manager my training was "Here is your keys, go figure it out". They have started to change that but they have some work to do.

Advice to Management

Listen to your associates, get back to the basics of what Walmart started as, and revamp your training programs.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Get to meet many different people.
Learn a lot about the whole store.
Most employees have mutual feelings towards their employment with WalMart.
WalMart is largely focused on their customers.

    Cons

Employee turnover on the front end is ridiculous.
Too many managers tell you to do different things.
Seems like someone is always putting a twist to different policies.
The company is more concerned about their customers than employees.

    Advice to Management

    Employees appreciate respect and encouragement.
More managers need to compliment their employees more often rather than just always telling them what they're doing wrong.

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Easy to get a job.
    Not very demanding.
    Made some great friends.

    Cons

The customers can be weird, rude, and downright scary at times. The management is not great at organization. The store needs to be more concerned about their employees. Not great training.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees. Be respectful for your employees.
