I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Got to meet some ingesting people, that weren't management.

    Cons

Couldn't care less if I was sick. Still counted against me for days I've missed. If i went home early because of being sick it counted against me. I was liter go for being unproductive for three minutes.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that your employees are people and have lives too.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    interesting environment
    worldwide exposure
    looks good on a resume

    Cons

45 hours a week is the minimum, they expect more
the thinking in the IT side of the house is somewhat inbred, they're trying to bring in fresh blood but it's hard
if you move to Bentonville you're very limited in other job choices

    Advice to Management

Just realize that in the IT world the folks who are worth anything don't have to put up with many 'cons' in terms of choosing a place to work. Unless you move faster to try to catch up to the rest of the industry in terms of technology, benefits, and workplace environment you're going to lose people as fast as you can bring them in.
