I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

*Tasks are relatively simple to learn
*Better pay then fast food
*You get 30min-hour lunch depending on how long your shift is including one to two 15min breaks
*30% off discount card after three months of working there
*You get to meet a lot of people

Cons

*Seems like everyone is being hired as part-time or being demoted to part-time
*The customers. You'll never see so many POS that think you should be lucky to lick the grime off their boots. They'll usually be the ones to sour your day. Their word is valued over yours.
*Walmart seems to be a haven for kleptomaniacs and your bonuses are affected by how much shrinkage (loss) your store has.
*If you have a bad manager or fellow co-workers you will not enjoy this job. It's like High School all over again.

Advice to Management

Let your employees know that they're more valuable than the word of one angry customer. Find something...anything to help the managers lose that dead eye glaze that they seem to have. I know some must feel burned out and dissatisfied with their current jobs but to have so many formally nice employees turn into asses as managers means either a wizard is sucking out their souls or you need to send them on vacation. Happy managers = happy employees!

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Made lots of friends with co-workers and customers. The hours were pretty flexible. I was able to transfer from one state to another pretty easily.

    Cons

Little or no room for advancement. You must work where they want you. Even though I had a very high aptitude for electronics I was never able to transfer to that department.

    Advice to Management

Find employee strengths and assign as is most desirable for company and employee.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is easy to get a job here and they will keep you on forever even if you don't do anything. If you manage to get fired from Walmart then you will never be able to work anywhere.

    Cons

They don't pay attention to their employees, or their customers, and frequently ignore problems.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is going on in your stores, because it is very obvious that you aren't.
