I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Slightly higher than minimum wage pay.
Promote from within.
Easy job to perform.
Good for a first job.
Good practice interacting with people.

Cons

It can get quite boring.
Standing for long periods of time.
Sometimes asked to push carts, which is no fun in Texas weather.

Advice to Management

The obsession with Sam Walton is weird and makes Walmart seem like a cult.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the flexibility of my time in the office as well as the nice people that I both oversaw and that oversaw me! People reflect negatively on Walmart however I enjoyed my experience.

    Cons

A lot of traveling to different stores as well as to meet vendors and of course attend meetings.

  2. "I'm having to do the work of multiple people each day"

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A good portion of my co-workers are awesome to work with. Walmart also has good job security being the largest retailer.

    Cons

Most departments are under staffed or not staffed at all. As an electronics associate I often have to also run toys, sporting goods, hardware, help cashier, help with the truck and backroom, and bring in carts. Customers get frustrated because we can not help them quickly. Some managers help out but most stay in the office talking about their day to each other.

    Advice to Management

Staffing is hurting the customers, employees and sales. Yes it is the easiest way to save money, it is also the fastest way to lose it.
