I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Walmart will hire just about anybody under the sun. And depending on your immediate supervisor, you can have a lot of flexibility in your schedule, which is awesome for those who have other obligations (children, school, 2nd jobs, etc). There are opportunities for advancement for those who show initiative. Quarterly bonuses can be nice,

    Cons

Raises are very poor. Doesn't matter how well you do your job, you will never receive an Exceed Expectations mark on your evaluation. No one does (as told to me personally by a supervisor). A standard Meets Expectations is generally used. Favoritism among management and subordinates is common. Quite often with this company, the left hand has no clue what the right one is doing (ex: associate caught shoplifting didn't get fired because management didn't realize the person was an employee). Lots of criticism, very little praise.

    Advice to Management

Stand behind your word. Always support your associates. Be a team player. Maintain integrity. And use common sense: why fret about the shade of blue an associate is wearing when there's iPads walking out the door and restrooms that haven't been cleaned in 4+ hours?!
