Positive Outlook

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The homeoffice is like a small college campus. Over 30 buildings and 18,000 associates. That being said, you can literally have any type of job here from shows and events, to training to lawyer to flying company planes etc. You never get bored. People normally stay at their job for about 3-4 years before trying something new. Also, one Saturday a month we have Saturday morning meetings, and always have a celebrity to come Fun environment to work

Cons

Can be political and about who you know if you want to keep climbing the corporate ladder

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great associates who are hard working and willing to work.

    Cons

Cut hours to the point that our standards had to drop.

    Advice to Management

Walmart is great, but be ready to roll up your sleeves and work. If they ask you to go to an area that is short staffed, you will never be permitted to leave.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was the worst job I ever had

    Cons

They motivate their employees with threats and de-motivation. The Asst. Store Managers need training on how to deal with people as they are vindictive and retaliate. HR staff is the worst in which I have ever been involved. I was part of the build-out of the Locust store and an employee cause a stack of racks to fall and cut my leg (which required 10 stitches). It took HR over an hour to locate the paperwork necessary for me to go to the urgent care facility and then I was taken to be drug tested. The employee who caused the accident wasn't taken for drug testing, only myself. Wal-Mart is lucky that I did not sue them! Every day it was pounded into our heads that they wanted us accident free but they never provided safety training.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff like human beings. Pay your staff a wage they can live on and stop playing games with their hours. They are supporting families on the pittance you pay
