Approves of CEO

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

* Benefits are good
* There is a lot of great talent in the HO
* Walmart has a lot of pull in the world

Cons

* Managers vary so much; just hope you get one that is consistent and understands people
* The culture is good however people come from all over to work at Walmart and those from other countries or the northern US frequently have difficulty in "getting it" and then there are some associates that refuse to buy in and then conflict occurs bringing down the morale of the team.
* Long hours for management at all levels.
* Inconsistencies in career paths; some areas have them and some don't.

Advice to Management

Fear of retaliation is still a reality at the HO.

    I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Always something to keep busy with; very customer oriented;

    Cons

    Training is terrible; management cliques; quick to fire employees on 3rd shift; tasking times are usually unrealistic

    Advice to Management

    Work more with new hires to make them productive; don't be so quick to judge and issue coachings;

  2. "Company has lost compassion for management and associates - numerous long term employees continue to jump ship."

    I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Management pay is good. Company promotes quite often from within. Benefits are not fantastic but better than other companies. Company gives a lot to charities and local organizations.

    Cons

    Hard to find help. Unbelievable level of stress put on store managers. Too many non-beneficial meetings,conference calls, score-cards and checklists that keep us from performing our actual job. Company quickly losing it's culture and compassion for management and associates, everyone is disposable. "Fear" mentality amongst management - should be obvious by the lack of interest from within the company in open management positions.

    Advice to Management

    Stop micromanaging store managers with "score cards" and let us run the store. Things have only gotten worse since we implemented all these ridiculous programs.
