I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Depending on the position training may not be provided. Upper management are usually the best things about working there.

    Cons

DO NOT WORK HERE!!!!! A particular CSM that I worked with did not know how to treat the people that she commanded if you want to call it that. She's rude, disrespectful. and all around just the wrong person for the job whether she earned it or not.

    Advice to Management

Do not underestimate what associates come to you about. If they come to you with a problem, it should be taken care of within the next 48 hours. If my problem, that I had for EIGHT MONTHS!!! had been taken care of in that time frame, I might have still been working there!

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Set hours, vet hiring program, profit sharing by the myshare program, management willing to listen and work with you, advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Management often hires people that cannot handle the physicality and high pace of the job that results in a high associate turnover rate. Pay could be better, physically no hourly associate works harder under narrow time constraints than unloaders.

    Advice to Management

Management should consider a pay for performance option after 90 days for certain physically demanding positions. Far too often a small percentage of associates are stuck doing the harder, more physically demanding tasks (zones, pallets, down stacks, etc) because others avoid them and supervisors must get the job done. 2 and 3 GM truck nights suck for everybody. it's worse for those few unloaders that are stuck doing the heavy lifting or working higher piece count zones (pets, chemicals, HBA, garden center) night after night, while others are consistently tasked with apparel, infants and toys because they can't keep up working harder zones. Associates are paid the same, so they race to pull the light toy and housewares pallets leaving the heavy water and pet food pallets to others. Create an incentive to work harder and more associates will meet expectations. Management sees and recognizes those few top performers, but associate of the month recognition and the thanks for your hard work starts to sound hollow after a few months. A .25 cent/hour bonus awarded quarterly to those few top performers would be a much more powerful incentive for others.
