Pros

Great place for junior engineers, plenty of opportunities and larger than life projects.

Cons

No innovation, very stiffling environment. COE (Correction Of Error) is really CYA. If you think different and don't like to settle for the staus quo, avoid at all cost. The most miserable years of my life.

Advice to Management

Stop using the Walmart Core Values as a way to better chastise dissent and caste blame.

    Pros

    * Location is great with dedicated parking garage & security onsite.
    * Opportunities to work in other departments
    * Plenty of potential in the Ecommerce space considering they are the largest retailer in the World

    Cons

    * Getting internal projects in the books is next to impossible especially if it requires engineer hours
    * Gaps in supervision & direction are very evident when senior people leave
    * You need to fight for visibility as management has deemed certain departments more important than others

    Advice to Management

    * Decentralize the supervision
    * Offer a flatter working environment
    * Lessen bureaucracy & give the power back to employees to make decisions

    Pros

Some smart people (hard to find though), real understanding of how to build an ecommerce platform from the ground up. Great work-life balance, very convenient office location.

    Cons

Being mediocre is okay, in fact it is preferred. Managers are constantly making trade offs on features and the customer experience is low priority. Leadership is shaky, too many reorgs in the last year have resulted in talented individuals leaving, either voluntarily or otherwise. As a result of this productivity is lost and you are afraid to invest too much in a particular direction because you don't know if management might change their mind about it tomorrow.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the company and figure out where you want to go and then stick with it. Frequent restructuring and treating one group in the company better than the rest is bad for employee morale.
