I worked at Walmart eCommerce as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Solid company if you're looking for job security, will not go away anytime soon. Surface perks but just barely. Decent people. Nice and well thought out work environment.

    Cons

Come on it's Walmart even if you do tack on the eCommerce. Lot's of work piled on with silly dead-lines. No real clear design direction always trying to catch up with what's out there. Company runs on the backs of contractors. The design group ignores talent and rewards personalities. I've seen some very talented people leave after being passed over for promotions. Pay is also not very competitive.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your corner cube and talk to people.

I have been working at Walmart eCommerce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun company culture
Lots of company rah rah's if you are into that
    Nice people to work with

    Cons

Leadership: they keep turning over resulting in ineffectiveness
Lots of layers: if they don't want to promote you, they'll just keep layering people on top of you
Bentonville: they get the final say
Politics: whoever has the best PR spin wins
Growth: good growth but not for a growth company. They aren't where they need to be.

    Advice to Management

We did give feedback already through the Employee Survey but they aren't listening or addressing the root of the problems. The org is too big for band-aid fixes. It just poisons the well.
