I have been working at Waste Management full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great people - everyone is very nice and extremely helpful!

Cons

Not enough training, too many work systems, no one's on the same page with anything. You are granted 5 days of sick time per year and if you don't give "proper" notice for being sick which is 1 full day, you receive a point which goes negatively against you. What's the point of sick days then?

Advice to Management

Get the proper training for new hires for specific jobs. A person can't learn the job they're hired for in 90 days unless they were trained in the job in the first place!

I worked at Waste Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are great. Pay is good. Overtime is abundant, Equipment is very good. They have a very nice fringe benefits package.

    Cons

All management personel have to operate by comittee. No free thinking. No actions taken when needed. Senior management spends much of their 20 hour work week trying to get more bonus money. Just not effective at all.

    Advice to Management

Grow some nads. Be a manager or go somewhere you can do what id needed. More yes men isn't what's needed. Its time to get competitive instead of capitulating to the competition.

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They offer union depending on what positions. Pays on time. Meet all kinds of people with different personalities, offers health insurance, dental and you name it.

    Cons

if you receive a check you sometimes have to wait over 3 to 4days before you check your stub. Normally in winter time. Their FMLA is crazy here. For promotion, you have to wait for someone to get fired or resign before you get promotion. It is too bad. They go by seniority which is sometimes bad but sometimes good.
