Pros

It is sincerely fulfilling to know you're providing solutions and relief to individuals, especially seniors, during one of the top 5 stressors that someone can experience. Once you're established in your sales role the revenue can be generous

Cons

They will sell you during the interview process and then unabashedly walk back all the ways they sold the role. They told me it was a flexible schedule and that I would be able to create my own schedule. The example often used was that I could even "block time in the middle of the day" to get my hair done. This was false. From day one they had me on mandatory daily 8 and 8:30am calls. The work load was so excessive I would work well into 6pm or 7pm without breaks. When I mentioned this being an issue to my manager one time they told me that's why they pack a lunch and eat on the go instead of recognizing the problem. When I finally started establishing boundaries and informing my manager that I would not be able to consistently work after 5pm it put a target on my head and I began to be bullied and treated differently. They'll train you one way but it is not the way management wants you to perform your role so clarification on how to properly complete tasks is confusing and inconsistent. I was told how to draft a proposal 4 different ways by 4 different people and then I was spoken to like I was a child by my manager for expressing confusion on how to properly learn the process. My managers method being the most tedious, time consuming, and redundant - often requiring putting the same information over and over in different places. There. Is. No. Coaching. After. Training. Management does not care about your continued development. My manager couldn't take time to consistently meet with me, but could take credit for my accomplishments and steal sales that should have gone to me. Their reasoning was because I wasn't able to work as quickly as they wanted me to - again, because of the confusion around how to work properly - but rather than work with me on working more quickly, they decided to take sales from me from a community that was on my pipeline. When I was fired they tried to mention how many examples of how to do things they had given me. They gave me maybe 2 or 3 via email and their method of coaching was sending mass emails to all employees, I'm guessing because they don't actually know how to coach and develop a team. The two things they sat side by side with me and showed me how to do they later told me I was doing them wrong. As mentioned above, I was fired. It was after my new employee probationary period yet it still happened unexpectedly and without prior corrective action or being placed on probation. It is written in the handbook that they can fire an employee at any time with or without cause. The odd thing about it was it did not appear as though they knew whether or not I was going to be fired going into the termination call. The HR representative left it up to my manager to decide how they wanted to move forward by the end of the call. The timing of this termination came after I submitted a 10 page document to another individual in the company recanting all of the instances where my manager gave me misinformation, showed unnecessary retaliation and punishment to make my job harder, suddenly told me I was doing something wrong that they showed me how to do, provided examples of them stealing credit for my accomplishments and sales, documented attempts at trying to reason with and express my feelings to them, and overall just failed as a manager. Before submitting this document I attempted to work with HR to find a resolution which resulted in them eventually failing to follow up with me. 2 business days later I was fired. Also give the employees their deserved raises. People shouldn't have to ask for mid and end of year reviews and hound HR to give them their proper raises.
