I worked at Wayfair full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were all great. Even though being a CSR is tough work, it was good to know that your manager knew where you were coming from and was helpful, not to mention the added benefit of regular department outings.

    Cons

Management seemed to exploit the fact that the entry level marketing and CSR staff were straight from college, and so they were given a flat compensation rate (explanation was that we were all given shares but it's just an excuse) under what is necessary to live in Boston comfortably. I knew many who had second jobs. Owners and upper management didn't seem to realize that having local CSRs are ultimately better than outsourcing, and even though we had a meeting where the message was "Your jobs are not in danger" a month later many including me were laid off. They only seemed to learn after this that maybe that decision wasn't the greatest one.

    Advice to Management

The culture is great, but value all the employees more, regardless of level. It's probably not a great thought that many employees consider an entry-level job at what was then CSN Stores a last minute decision to be able to live in Boston, and not the reason to live there. Don't try to grow your company more than it should, especially in an economy where sales are stagnant.
