I have been working at Weaver full-time

    Pros

Great work/life balance, excellent business model and atmosphere in the office
Ample opportunity for growth to partner and a shorter track to doing so
Compensation and bonuses generally meet or exceed local market, despite what other firms claim
Growing rapidly from internal growth rather than acquisition model
Adequately staffed so that people do not get "burned out" during filing/audit season
Respect and appreciation for your work begins at the intern or staff level and never stops
True open-door policy with partners and managers
No micromanagement and treated as a professional (if you act like one)

    Cons

For the time being limited to Texas only; transferring out of Texas means you will likely have to find another firm.
Depending on the office, some offices have lower hiring availability than others.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, maintain the amazing office atmosphere and keep the focus on your clients and employees as you have been doing for years.

I have been working at Weaver full-time

    Pros

With the limited staffing of a regional firm, at Weaver you usually work in small teams and thus get a lot of experience with all aspects of the client engagement very quickly. Management is pretty good at identifying top performers and will promote based on merit rather than by years of experience. Work schedule is flexible outside of busy season, as long as you fulfill your client committment. PTO is quite generous at 20 days/yr.

    Cons

Clients may be located in the smaller towns of Texas and thus require traveling to those places for weeks at a time during busy season. Health insurance package for families is expensive and does not have very good coverages. Pay raise can be less than expected but may be because of the poor market/economy in the past few years. The client experience you get here will be vastly different from the big 4, due to the client base consists mainly of private, mid-sized companies as opposed to public, fortune 500 companies.
