I have been working at WellPoint full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Lots of positions, lots of locations and lots of potential advancement

Cons

Evil management, no training on anything especially if you're new to healthcare, noone is friendly just keeping everything close to the vest

Advice to Management

Create a culture of training, inclusiveness

    I worked at WellPoint as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay. Full time telecommute position. OK benefits

    Cons

    Very political. Telecommute workers are more likely to be the first on the lay off list, since it is easier to lay off someone you don't have to deal with face to face on a daily basis.

    I worked at WellPoint full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers USED to work there.

    Cons

    The company began outsourcing about 3 years ago and they have continued the mass exodus of employees from all locations since. Even the medical reviews are being done by nurses in India who have very little if any knowledge of the American Health Care Industry. There profits continue to increase but they have no regard for their employees, many of which have been loyal to this company for over 20 years.

    Advice to Management

    There has to be a way to still have profit without outsourcing so many American jobs to other countries.
