Pros

Great work life balance. I have work flexibility, autonomy, and room to advance in my career.

Cons

I'm a nurse, and the have many that work here. We are not recognized a lot.

Advice to Management

Take better care of your members and live by your mission.

    I worked at WellPoint full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    HR-related aspects top notch - competitive pay, good incentive plan, strong benefits. Really do try to promote from within. Ability to work from home. Lots of very smart people who want to do a good job.

    Cons

    PMO processes that should drive and support progress end up materially impeding progress. IT full of small fiefdoms that don't talk, take a long time to deliver and are costly. No travel budget so all work is 100% remote. Constant reorgs mean management is watching their back rather than focusing on execution, managers who don't rock the boat are the ones that survive.

    Advice to Management

    Pull PMO out of IT organization and put in business, make them accountable to business leadership rather than their own. Implement SLAs for IT and make their performance visible. Increase level of accountability across entire organization; start rewarding those who ask the hard questions.
