I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

People development and job growth is available, opportunities for those who work hard. More time should be put into hiring the right people for the jobs and then top talent should be retained. Recent changes to bonus structure were positive since your bonus is based on your results.

Cons

Corporate, so much focus on everything being done the same which created more people who accomplish less. Top performers were held back by non performers.

Advice to Management

Job fairs are not the right place to find a large number of talented people.

    Pros

It's a great start to a career in sales and trading. You get the knowledge afforded a first-year job on wall street, but without a lot of the attitude, especially if you're in the San Francisco office.

    Cons

    Reputation isn't that great.

Since the Wachovia merger, there has been some tension within the organization. Ultimately WFS is new and growing, so there are pains associated with that. How you manage it depends on your attitude and whether you see walls as barriers or as opportunities to prove yourself.

    Advice to Management

Clean out the inadequate managing directors so that promising first year analysts don't get stuck working with management that shouldn't be there.
