Increasingly dissatisfied

It’s getting harder and harder to enjoy my job. The expectations are unrealistic, workload/caseload has increased significantly (more than an additional 30%) than what I was initially told I would be responsible for. Feel duped, to be honest. Hard to find a pro with the pile-on of excess work.
Cons
The CEO (that’s what he actually is, but his title is university “President”) has changed the management structure so that it’s now more top-heavy and key decisions that impact the lower ranks are made most often without consultation from the people it impacts. It’s becoming more and more like Amazon (where the CEO came from), with crazy , stressful, workload expectations. Can’t take a vacation without your Key Performance Indicators being impacted (they never shut off even when you’re out of office for weekends or requested time off). Major issues with accountability, and an employee often feels pressured (by KPI or other) to work even when out of office.

The only decent aspect of this role is that you can work remotely.
Cons
- If you voice your opinion or ask questions expect retaliation. Seniority means everything at WGU. It doesn’t matter what your past experience is, if you haven’t been here for years then your thoughts and opinions won’t be respected. - The rule here is that once you hit six months you can then apply to other departments. If you are in admissions or enrollment expect to be stuck in this department until you eventually quit and go somewhere else. They don’t look at prior experience, your time at WGU is all they care about. If you are over qualified for a position you won’t even be considered for an interview if you haven’t been at WGU for as long as they want. - Working in enrollment/admissions is the equivalent to working in a call center. Besides your own appointments you expected to be ‘on queue’ which means that you have to pick up whenever a call comes in even if it’s not meant for your department. This means over 30+ calls in a day. Many students will curse at you and be blatantly disrespectful but you are expected to help them. - WGU cares about numbers more than anything. Even when students ghost you that’s held against you, and you get told that you need to try harder. - WGU is extremely cliquey, you can tell right away who is buddy buddy, if you aren’t overly social and sharing every aspect of your life then you won’t advance in your role. - Pay is very low, degrees aren’t considered or thought of when it comes to pay or applying to other departments.
