Positive Outlook

I have been working at Western New England University full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Family style and caring from the top down!

Cons

With expansion to University status, some poor direction choices were made, namely in hiring who would guide us into the new status. OIT is a perfect example.

Advice to Management

Stay education centric! You're great at it!

    Pros

Unfortunately, the people that work with me are stuck on the same boat so there is an agreeable level of camaraderie. There is not much else going at this place.

    Cons

Well... There is the salary which is ever decreasing because the management is unwilling to at least adjust salaries inline with inflation. There are absolutely no opportunities for advancement and it is looked down upon to even ask. There is extreme issues with the mismanagement of the budget.

    Advice to Management

In a weak economy, it makes sense to be show some austerity. A spending spree resulted in both a hiring freeze as well as a purchasing freeze. There also must be more opportunities to advance. As of now, the only chance to advance is to apply to an another internal position.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

casual atmosphere, solid pay, plenty of off time, flexible scheduling, accessible environments, nice people, pleasant campus, good perks, familiar territory.

    Cons

no future, poor training. high rate of turnover, majority of workers are on federal programs. Varying level of responsibility given, dependent not on skill, but on management whims

    Advice to Management

management should take the student body seriously as a dedicated work force. large pool of potential employees willing to work with loyalty and talent. focus on providing training which will give sustainable skills.
