I worked at Western & Southern Life full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Starting salary was enough to get you up and started, Awesome managers, Great starting place for life insurance work

Cons

Coming in to the office to make mandatory calls and all the meetings took away from time in the field to actually service and create relationships with clients

Advice to Management

Cut down on some of the unnecessary "Mandatory" requirements brought in by Quantum Leap.

I have been working at Western & Southern Life full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You have a lot of potential, and a good about of flexibility/wiggle room. You can make a lot of money in this business....but you have to do a lot of work to get there.

    Cons

It's hard to have any down time. To make this work, especially the first year when you're just starting out, you have to devote almost all of your "free time" to building the business/clients.

    Advice to Management

You have to find the fine line between staying on top of your employees production and smothering them into counter productivity.

I worked at Western & Southern Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Western and Southern does have one thing going for them, and that's a very VERY cutthroat hiring system. They make you seem like they don't need you, then rope you in by having you "just" pass all qualifications. All that aside, they do actually have a very good training program to get into the business, and I did learn quite a bit about insurance itself.

    Cons

Pretty much everything else, no guaranteed income after the first 6 weeks, blatant lies about exactly what you will be doing for the job, required use of personal vehicle with no compensation, no set hours, etc. Just not a good place to be.

    Advice to Management

From what I've seen of the upper management, I'm not sure if they really know what's going on at the lower levels or not. Regardless, they didn't do much about it.
