I worked at Westinghouse full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Lots of new, young, outside employed engineers about 4-6 years ago during the nuclear boom - forced change in old processes, good pay for the Pittsburgh area

Cons

Poor management that doesn't know how to work together for a common goal. Old fashioned library type atmosphere, older employees do not appreciate what new employees can bring to the industry that is in need of great change.

Advice to Management

Listen to the young and new people you brought in from the outside that you paid so much money to get - they have lots of insite even if its things you don't want to hear.

I worked at Westinghouse full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities for travel and varying experiences. Competitive salary and increases. Extremely professional work atmosphere with chance to work with the best and brightest in the business

    Cons

Extremely political and buddy-buddy management staff, typical large company environment of office politics. Very top heavy management staff, with front line managers expected to perform junior level activities as opposed to manage functional areas.

    Advice to Management

Treat managers as managers. The director level managers and above get too involved and do not afford managers and professionals opportunities to address / resolve. High degree of buddy-buddy promotions over performance / performing individuals
