I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Working hours are flexible and workload is acceptable. In general, Westpac is the place to have work life balance while you get paid above average salary in the financial services industry. Westpac is a huge organisation and it does encourage people to move around different teams. For example, a department head is required to swap roles with another department head every 3 to 4 years in order to challenge themselves. Employee benefits are excellent and can save heaps of money.

Cons

Some people are lazy and don't know what they are doing. Since they have been with the bank for a long time, the company cannot get rid of them easily. If you are a highly ambitious employee, you should look elsewhere. This is the domestic commercial bank for people who want work life balance.

I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work life balance with flexible arrangements
    - Positive culture that embraces diversity in the workplace
    - Career opportunities with so much movement going on

    Cons

    - Career advancement linked to lip-service, not merit
    - Too much silo'ed thinking and decision making, not enough cross division collaboration
    - Systems need improvement and lags peers

    Advice to Management

Make more hard and gutsy decisions that will setup the company for the future and ahead of the pack. The bank does not have a clear competitive advantage.
